The Tools

Focused tools for people who mix with their ears.

Every Neap plugin starts as something I built for my own sessions at Low Tide Studio, then sanded down until it earns a place on yours. Two are out. More are on the bench.

01 · Reference Plugin

Neap Mixer

Find the right reference, then hear what's inside it.

Mixer helps producers, mixers, and mastering engineers choose references that actually fit the track — by BPM, key, genre, artist, producer, mix engineer, and instrument context.

Once you've found it, Mixer level-matches it to your project and lets you listen closely to one frequency range at a time — comparing width, effects, decay, balance, distortion, and how the bass, drums, and vocals sit together.

Musical Search

Search by BPM, key, scale, genre, artist, producer, mix engineer, and instruments.

Reference Crates

Save groups of references per production, mood, client, or mix target.

Level Match First

Kill the loudness illusion before deciding what your mix actually needs.

Frequency Focus

Solo the sub, low mid, vocal body, presence, or air on purpose.

Loop The Moment

Focus the chorus, drop, vocal entry, drum fill, or any section that matters.

Width And Effects

Hear how wide a range is and how much reverb, delay, or distortion lives there.

Bass And Drums

See what leads the sub and how long the kick and bass ring together.

Preview Or Buy

Audition a preview, import your own files, or buy the track and support the artist.

What Mixer Helps You Hear

Production decisions get clear the moment you isolate them.

How much vocal lives in the low mid?
Is the bass or kick louder in the sub?
How wide is the chorus range?
How much distortion is on the snare?
How long is the kick tail compared to the bass?
Is the reference dry, wet, narrow, or wide?

DAW represents the user's production. In the real plugin you would compare against your full DAW session, so you can EQ, distort, automate, or solo specific instruments while Mixer keeps the reference focused and level-matched.

02 · Room Plugin

Sounds Good

Open Sounds Good Runs in the browser · Sign in with your Neap account · VST3 in progress

Map what your room does to your speakers — using only your ears.

Every room adds a signature. Some notes boom, others vanish, the balance drifts to one side — and because it's always there, you stop hearing it and start mixing against it.

Sounds Good finds that signature without a measurement mic. A bass tone sweeps upward; you hold a button when a note jumps out, disappears, or pulls to one side. Match those tones to a reference and each gets a number — the result is a map of your room and an EQ preset you can load in Pro-Q.

No Microphone

Your ears are the instrument. Nothing to buy, calibrate, or place.

Sweep And Hold

Hold while a note booms or drops away — the range becomes the filter width.

Left And Right

Catch notes that pull toward one speaker, then trim that side on its own.

Measured, Not Guessed

Match each flagged tone to a level reference so every boom carries a number.

Tonal Balance

A nine-band comparison catches the broad tilt your ear quietly adapts to.

Honest About Fixes

Dead spots and ringing get advice, not filters — EQ can't fill a cancellation.

Hear The Correction

Low, mid, and high sweeps before and after, so you check the result.

Export And Reload

Save a room by name, or export a FabFilter Pro-Q preset and the raw JSON.
